I had the Silver version of this power supply for a long time and it suddenly failed after serving me well through 3 generations of upgrades.
Needing a quick replacement, I looked at all of my options and went with the updated version. One of the nice things about a fully modular power supply is how easy it is to install and especially replace. I have the Silverstone FT03 case with dual video cards and a large CPU cooler which means it’s hard to work on my system without taking everything out – a huge hassle.

Pros: It just worked, no problems, or at least none under half load which is about all my 6700k and 980TI seem to be able to sucker it for. I guess the newer CPU and GPU’s really are a lot better with power!! Also 100% modular. Nice to not have to clutter what I don’t need.
Cons: A tad more expensive vs. I’d like to see. The transfer time is lower on it vs. a regular PSU. IE if power flicker etc. the ms between that being noticeable to the running equipment. If you’re on a decent backup battery this won’t be an issue really but if not means these are more likely to crash the machine in any sort of momentary power issues.
One reason these have that flaw is due to the smaller design and thus smaller capacitors. I guess it’s a trade off you have to decide on.
Overall though it seems to be working well. The fan on mine always run (I though someone said only under load) but FWIW it’s silent. I guess now I just hope it last and doesn’t take anything with it if it does ever go.
